It is raining today. Downpours. I like the rain. It is conducive to my writing style. It inspires me.
I have been posed 2 questions.
1. Do I write a story about my experience with cancer. There are a lot of cancer stories out there. I firmly believe, that these stories are helpful for those who are going through cancer and every cancer survivor deserves a platform. Can I add anything new or is it enough to just tell the story?
2. The other suggestion, and I have been getting this one for years, is to write about finding my family as an adult. The joys of adoption and yes there are many and the joy
of knowing your biological family and there are many there also.
In my experience, knowing my biological family, for the most part, had been a great joy in my life. With a few exceptions, I would not trade it for the world. They are a fascinating, funny, loving group of relatives.
This also is a story much done sometimes overdone. I think of media, TV in particular. But, the stories are interesting and mine no less so.
The family stories I have put on here are my biological family tree. I have only mentioned my adopted family in passing. They too, mostly are wonderful people.
So, besides working on my novel, do I try my hand at these personal stories about me. Rhetorical question. I will at some point. Just thinking about it today.
I will write a book based on the murder of Mary Hill. I may never know the true ending of that saga, but I can fictionalization it and create an ending.
Lots of ideas floating through my mind on this rainy day. Tomorrow or the next day, I will write about my ggg grandfather, Colon McRae from Scotland and why I feel such a strong desire to connect to his roots there.
See ya later.
Below are 3 pictures. They did not oh where I wanted them but the first, obviously is a rainy day. The second is 3 of my biological aunts as children. The third is my adopted Mother, sister, and 2 nieces.
Love your writing! Tomorrow (8/8) is the 6th anniversary of my BC diagnosis. I celebrate it as my “pink day.” Six years ago tomorrow I began the journey to kick cancer’s ass…and I won! I’m going to suggest another blog for you that you may really enjoy. It is about adoption, being, having been, and growing up with or as an adoptee. It’s written by a good friend of mine and she is flippin fabulous 🙂 I hope you enjoy getting to know her. And I wish you many, many “pink days” to celebrate in the future ❤
