It’s been a busy few days. Not sure exactly why. Nothing in particular.

In genealogical news, I found a distant connection to the Luthi family. This confirms what I suspected about Mary Hill, the supposedly murdered Mary Hill, that her last name was Luthi and that Hill was more than likely a previous married name. She grew up in Georgia and the census I’ve found shows others listed in area as being a family by the name of Hill with three boys around her age. It doesn’t solve the murder mystery but it is a link in the chain.

In writing my Novel news, all going well on that front. At about 86 pages or 23,000 words for other writers reading this.

It is interesting to me to find that in writing I am seeing bits and pieces of my ancestors showing up. For instance, it is set in North Carolina where my paternal family originated after coming from Scotland. I like to think that some of my characters are showing traits of past ancestors also.

I am very much an inspiration type writer. Usually , a line will pop into my head. Sometimes a picture but most often a line. In this book, I woke up one morning and was still in that in between stage of waking and sleeping and a line came to me. It was, Virginia was dressed all in black. I have now built about a quarter of the story I intend to write around that line.

Thank you to all who read my cancer story. I hope it did not get too long or tedious. I have been asked many times to share it and now I have.

Hello. I am the author of the Historical Fiction novel called Mamie Garrison. It is a tale of slavery, abolition, romance and history, set in the years just prior to the Civil War. It is available on Kindle for .99 and on Kindle Unlimited; also in paperback. Mamie Garrison has a dual storyline. The present day story involves Bella and Andrew finding Mamie's journals. Their story includes romance and paranormal aspects. Mamie's story follows her adventures as an abolitionist through her journals. There are some mysteries as well as an unusual background in Mamie's life. I am 59 and married with one adult child and one grandchild. I have always enjoyed the written word and have been a voracious reader from my early youth. I am inspired by many authors in the historical fiction genre. I am also a lover of Russian literature, particularly Tolstoy and Doestoyefsky. I find great inspiration for creating characters by looking at the ones these two authors have created. There is such a depth to them. I have written for most of my life in one form or another. I have dabbled in poetry and songwriting, and have more started novels than finished ones. In my free time, I like reading, history and travel. I am interested in genealogy and working on my family tree. I live in the Midwest United States with my husband, Chris and my dog, Max.
