Mamie Garrison * Book 2, Colin Garrison * Book 3, Emily Garrison

My name is Mamie McRae Garrison. It is 1920, and I am 90 years old. My memory is just as sharp as it was 70 years ago. I am writing down my childhood recollections as best as can be remembered because it has been requested of me to share the journals I kept from 1850 to 1861. I have showed the notes kept during those eleven years prior to the Civil War to a visitor, a Miss Alice Simpson, who said she was collecting stories about the Underground Railroad, and had heard about my involvement. She told me that if I would donate them to a project she is working on, they will be a gift for future generations. I’m not entirely sure that what I’ve been told about my story being a gift is true, but have been assured that others will want to know who I am or rather who I was and what my life was like for a brief period of time from 1830 to 1861. I say 1830 because I insisted that if I was to make my journals public, they must start at the beginning and tell the whole story. No one can know me or understand my actions without knowing the beginning. All of it is what they need to know, not just about what this country was like when I was young, but what many of us did to help change the course of history and why. It is not to bring praise unto myself, I want to be clear about that, but to show what can be accomplished when one sets aside one’s own needs and rises above themselves to help the less fortunate. This is a portion of my life story, the first thirty-one years. It is only one woman’s story, but at this late stage of my life, I have chosen to recount this specific time in detail, and so will begin. It is hoped my memories may be found useful.

Hello. I am the author of the Historical Fiction novel called Mamie Garrison. It is a tale of slavery, abolition, romance and history, set in the years just prior to the Civil War. It is available on Kindle for .99 and also in paperback. Mamie Garrison has a dual storyline. The present day story involves Bella and Andrew finding Mamie's journals. Their story includes romance and paranormal aspects. Mamie's story follows her adventures as an abolitionist through her journals. There are some mysteries as well as an unusual background in Mamie's life. I have completed book two in my series. Colin Garrison, Book 2 of The Garrisons is available at Amazon.com/dp/B0759MYN81. Please see my Colin Garrison page under the menu option for a small sample of this new book. The third and final book in the series, Emily Garrison is now available. Please see above for link. I am 62 with one adult child and one grandchild. I have always enjoyed the written word and have been a voracious reader from my early youth. I am inspired by many authors in the historical fiction genre. I am also a lover of Russian literature, particularly Tolstoy and Dostoevsky. I find great inspiration for creating characters by looking at the ones these two authors have created. There is such a depth to them. I have written for most of my life in one form or another. I have dabbled in poetry and songwriting, and have more started novels than finished ones. In my free time, I like reading, history and travel. I am interested in genealogy and working on my family tree. I live in St Louis.
